Link Generation:
The extent of inbound links to a web page has become a means of assessing the value of that page by all the search engines. The logic behind this being that if someone has bothered to provide a link to the page, there must be something worthwhile on it, and the more links there are, the more worthwhile it must be.
Thus link generation is important and essential off-page factor of search engine optimization. The first consideration you have to make in your link-building efforts is who should be linking to you and whom you should link to. Not just the quantity, the quality of inbound links is what is more important because the google pagerank of the page is usually measured based on the quality of the page where the link is located .
A lot of different programmes exist to generate links. They are as follows:
Directory submissions - links are submitted to directories with high page rank and to the relevant category to which the website belongs.
Article submissions - Using relevant keywords as anchor text in the articles and submitting them to article directories like ezine.
Reciprocal linking - Also called as link exchange basically involves two-way e-mail requests, acceptance of outside exchange requests,e-mail exchange requests sent from the company to other relevant websites.
3 way linking- The situation is simple. For instance, an article of site A, which is your site, is linked to a similar article at site B which link back to site A's index page from site C's index. The cycle of a three-way linking is somewhat completed. In each link every site involved get a one-way link.
Blogging- Creating a blog and submit it to blog directories (to get one-way links), updating the postings, timely posting, keyword placement in the blog will help in building links.
With these practices in place the link building efforts though time-consuming will be worth the effort.
